A child's development involves many connected areas - communicating, responding, participating, managing tasks and becoming more comfortable with different situations.
Focused professional guidance can help children work on specific areas according to their individual needs. Within Ved's broader environment of education, practical experiences and daily activities, this adds another dimension to how children are guided through their journey.
We currently offer Occupational Therapy (OT), Speech Therapy and Behaviour Modification, with a team of three therapists.
Occupational Therapy
Many activities rely on a combination of movement, coordination, attention, sensory processing and practical abilities.
Occupational Therapy can focus on these areas according to individual needs, helping children work on the functional abilities involved in carrying out different tasks and taking part in day-to-day activities.
The purpose is closely connected with participation - helping a child engage more comfortably with activities, objects, routines and surroundings.
Speech Therapy
Communication is about more than speaking. It also involves understanding, expressing needs and ideas, responding to others and taking part in interaction.
Speech Therapy can address different aspects of speech, language, understanding and expression according to a child's individual requirements.
Strengthening communication can create more ways for children to express themselves and connect with the people around them.
Behaviour Modification
Children may respond differently to routines, surroundings, communication and changing situations. Understanding those responses is an important part of helping them navigate different environments.
Behaviour Modification uses structured approaches to recognise patterns and encourage responses that can make participation and interaction more manageable.
The emphasis is on understanding individual needs and building patterns that can be carried into different situations over time.
Communication, functional abilities, behaviour, education and daily living do not exist separately in a child's world.
Being able to express a need can change an interaction. Becoming more comfortable with a practical task can encourage greater involvement. Learning how to respond in a situation can make it easier to participate.
This is why specialised guidance sits alongside classroom experiences, life skills and practical activities at Ved - allowing different parts of a child's development to complement one another.
Our Specialists
Ved currently has three therapists supporting the areas of Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy and Behaviour Modification. Their specialised role adds professional input to the broader environment surrounding the child, while education, activities and daily experiences continue to contribute in their own ways.

Development is not represented by one kind of achievement.
It may be seen when a child finds another way to express something, becomes more engaged in an activity, responds differently to a situation or handles part of a task with greater involvement.
These individual moments matter because each one can become another step in discovering what a child can understand, practise and carry forward.
